A Thousand Times No: Get A Hawk’s Eye View As A Television Antenna Gets Built

To use a quote from James May:  “I genuinely don’t like heights. It’s my biggest failing…among many, I accept.” To me, it’s a matter of platform: the more space I have to put my feet, the more square footage offered to me overall, the more comfortable I feel. I’ve flown in the first-class section of a Boeing 777 internationally, and it’s second only to a cruise ship for serenity and comfort. Flying a Cessna 172, by comparison, was an exercise in not tasting the fabric of the seats without using my mouth, each and every flight. I can stand on my roof just fine, so long as I get to choose where I stand. But you’re high on fire if you think for a second that I would be comfortable as a skyscraper builder or window-washer on the Burj Khalifa. I’ll spare you the drama and the time, I’ll just fill my shorts and walk away shamed without being hooked to a harness or attempting to maintain my balance while driving in rivets. There’s a whole lot of “nope” just in the thought. And I know that it isn’t uncommon for any random person to feel the same way.

But one person’s failing is another person’s opportunity. The average antenna climber/technician can make solid money just for being able to do their job without wetting themselves uncontrollably. You won’t get super-rich but you’ll be just fine at the end of the day, comfortably so. Want to get an idea of the fast way to earning an average of $77,000 a year? Enjoy the view…

It would have to be about $125k before I’d consider it. You would get used to it but there are a lot of things I can do to get to $75k without so much risk.
