One moment you are just standing there pumping gas like a normal person and the next you are the unwitting star of a real life Michael Bay movie. These people in Madinah, Saudi Arabia were having an average day before an underground tank at the gas station they were at completely exploded launching dirt, concrete, and whatever else into the sky. Amazingly it looks like no one was hurt and the only major problem was the massive cleanup and fixit job that was ahead for the owners of the station itself.

Back when I was a dutiful gas station employe in high school every night we had to go out with the dipper stick and take the tank levels, record them, and put it all together with the paperwork that the owner would check each day. It was an archaic way of doing stuff but it worked, assuming that the high school kid you were trusting with your gas volume was doing the job right.

Anyway, every now and again I used to wonder what wold happen if one of those big tanks was somehow met with a spark and blew up. I no longer have to worry after seeing this video because now I know. I’d not like to experience in person, that is for sure!

The cause of this is still being investigated but wow it sure shocked the people at the pumps!
