In The Battle Of A Hydraulic Press vs A Small Anvil Which Will Win? (We All Know Which Wins)

In The Battle Of A Hydraulic Press vs A Small Anvil Which Will Win? (We All Know Which Wins)

The hydraulic press channel is really something else. This guy comes up with all different kinds of stuff to jam into his press and squash and then millions of us tune in to watch it. Literally. The video below had over 2-million views before we posted it for your viewing pleasure and the subject matter is likely why. Unlike pressing on some clay or play dough, this time it is a small steel anvil being put to the torture test in the unrelenting press.

You’ll also see him attempt to crush a hammer later in this video but it is the anvil that’s the star of the show. This one sure has the most potential for violent and danger out of all the stuff that he has squashed in the press. Why? Think of the energy that will be released when this thing gets pressured to its breaking point! There’s an inch thick shield to the front and apparently the sides of the press and this is the first time we have ever seen our hero post a blatant “this could kill you” message on the video as well.

It is an interesting and fun thing to watch. As you can tell by the lead photo, something eventually gives but perhaps not in the way you are expecting. Watch the hydraulic press take on the little anvil and see how it plays out. The high speed camera slow motion stuff is really the best part of this one.

(Watched without sound) The killer there is the amount of tensile stretch the press frame has undergone at the point his test subject fails, looks like he’s really maxing it out making it into a giant rubber-band. That’s whats causing pieces to go shooting off, normally cast iron will break then just sit there. Incidentally a large machine stretching then twanging in suddenly will bounce back out and may crack the concrete floor if it’s not on pads

Actually squashing stuff on a press is not that interesting, but somehow watching it on YouTube is.
