Re: Barnstormin': Why the Martin M4 Pro Mod Bugs Me

Im not familiar with IHRA's rules. So maybe someone can help me out with a few ??
Are PM bodies"supposed" to be based off of production vehicles?
If so how many actual cars have to be produced that are street legal and meet all safety standards?
If they are based off of "regular vehicles"shouldnt the "regular vehicles be produced first?
Seems to me like he put the cart before the horse.
If its IHRA legal is it ADRL and NHRA legal?
Hes got quite the investment there and you would think he would work with the sanctioning bodies and get their OK before building.Did he?
    TIA for the answers!

      Answers:

      Yes
No specification....grey area used to justify allowing the car
      One would certainly think so
      You bet they did
NHRA series is invite only and really can make it's own rules to suit the "club" of racers. Not sure about ADRL.
IHRA approved at the last possible minute...not a lot of advanced warning

I'll send an e-mail to Mike Baker and Skooter over at IHRA. They are good guys and we always got along when I worked for them. We'll see how that works out.

Ok here is my half ass input, make a rule that need fo use a production roof it can be chopped and the rest of the car is all + _ like 15% tech would be a payne and would have to allow replica's in some cases. I do not understand why pro stock went to carbon fiber replica's instead of a production roof and quarters. Why not require some stock body panel? The really cool stuff in racing does not come from no rules but rather going around rules.
