Great guy, great reporter. A real, old-fashioned, professional deadline journalist. One of David's contributions to NASCAR media coverage: He was a fierce defender of the print media over television. There is a tendency to push the print reporters aside and David fought that tooth-and-nail in the interest of all of us. He was a constant thorn in the side of track and series PR personnel but note: Yesterday they all sent out releases expressing their deep respect for David along with their condolences, from Brian France on down.

The pressroom upstairs better have its act together or Someone is going to get an earful.

Sorry to hear about the loss of David Poole, being from the Charlotte area I always caught his articles in the past.
After moving to East Tenn I would always check the Observer out to see what he had to say. The motorsports world will miss him.
