Re: The Day the Bottom Fell Out

    So.... lemme get this straight.

Ford, the only major US automaker that DIDN'T get bailout loans or ISN'T facing imminent bankruptcy...
just got kneecapped by the bankruptcy of one of its largest suppliers, Visteon.

So is Ford gonna snap up the pieces and build their own axles now?

    Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over?

Well, its the old domino effect at work. Chrysler and GM can't buy enough parts to keep the suppliers up and running so the suppliers quit making stuff, so Ford gets stiffed with not enough parts to build its stuff. We knew it was coming and now its here.

Now, how does importing Chinese cars help anybody, but the Chinese? Sure doesn't help all of those autoworkers, dealers and U.S. parts manufacturers does it?

Visteon was spun off a few years back by Ford. Much as Delphi was by GM. Ford was ahead of the game then and lets hope they stay that way! For my sake ;D

It may cost a few more dollars but it looks to me like someone in the aftermarket could kick up production and help Ford get these parts, Currie? Someone like that.
Also in my book another bad decision on a US Mfg to import China crap.

Maybe Ford will be in a position to buy Visteon back for less then they sold it for. That way they can keep getting there parts and the made a profit on the sale? ???

Just say NO, and then go, and tell someone you trust.....

Really, just say no to Chinese built junk. Cars anyway.

I have a real problem with GM importing cars from China, someone needs to step in and put a stop to that. >
It's not the destination, but the journey and the friends you make along the way that counts.

I admit that there was one item that made me smile: "While the U.S. market has fallen apart, GM has continued to see some of its greatest success in China."

I've often shuddered at foreign companies sending profits back home; it looks as if GM is doing the same thing to the Chinese. It appears that GM has Chinese labour building GM badged cars that are being sold to the Chinese. It's not much, but it felt like a positive spin.

                          The Dealer closing list
49 in Texas, one in Abilene - Arrow Chrysler/Jeep. They are really a Ford dealer and bought the Chrysler dealer a couple years ago that was next door - I mean like right across the driveway next door. Star Dodge is right down the street, so having two that close I figured Arrow would take the hit.

Chinese GM cars imported to North America......Who made this decision? Let me get this straight.......A democratic GVT that defies to acknowledge Communism as a functioning governmental system and sends its military to free the people enslaved by these tyranical leaders causeing people to die in the process in the name of freedom, bails out a substantial industry giant therefore becoming the owner, providing cars for the people in a faciast communist sense allowing said industry to support a communist GVT in providing services and products to the democratic people that once opposed this oppressive regime.

We have become a communist nation if this truely is a fact.

There are millions of dead veterans and families that should be opposing this problem to the utmost. What happened to the American dream? What happened to the passion and commitment that it took to survive, that the entire world was jealous of and stood at the doors of democracy just to get a glimpse of what was inside?

Seeing the strong man stumble and attempting to take advantage of it is a cowardly notion and the UAW, US Government, and GM themselves should be ashamed. Liquidate, minimize and reorganize but keep the North American auto industry, "North American". We are being slain by the dragon people....stand up and fix this problem!!!!! Live the american dream and quit wondering about your pocket!!!!
