Re: Mailbox "will" last now ???
My dad had a huge problem with kids smashing his mailbox, and he did much the same concrete/steel pipe thing.... only with a twist.... he raised the mailbox up so it'd just clear a car's hood..... so the next time it was hit (by a 70 Nova) it took out the windshield post, the B pillar and most of the C pillar.... we never had trouble with cars hitting the mailbox again. In fact, last time I checked, the mailbox was still there - some 35 years later.
