It is easy for NASCAR to come down hard on Long. He poses no threat.

The last time Nascar fined a driver for oversize engine was back in the day and it was Richard Petty. He was fined 35,000 (translates to 210,000 in todays money). At least they're consistent. ;D You said in the original post "a couple inches", but get this, it was .17 inch over, that's POINT ONE SEVEN. How in the hell can you justify 200,000 for .17 inch? Like it's going to give him an advantage? It's crap like this that cause their fans to start watching football on Sunday. >

This is just incredible....incredible crap. The ever-increasing contortions of NASCAR to try and keep a flawed racing concept going are both pathetic and hugely disappointing. What ever happened to the concept of reasonable and proportional response? I was done with NASCAR before, but this further reaffirms my decision.

It was a well used engine. The difference was equal to .001 in bore size. Only reason it was inspected was because it blew.
