Re: A/Fuel Tech Part 4: The Nitro Dragster Clutch
Yeah, definately have to read this a few times! Now I understand what was said about removing weights on the clutch to go faster. So there isn't a multiple gear transmission? The clutch slippage acts as a variable gear? Hmm. How are the pneumatics fed? Like a hydraulic clutch?Escaped on a technicality.

Re: A/Fuel Tech Part 4: The Nitro Dragster Clutch
in a/fuel you are not allowed any kind of clutch management. in a top fuel or funny car you would have a hydrolic ram called a cannon that controls the throw out bearing, which would contact the fingers and contol how far they come out. that would determin the plate load. it's usually activated by a electromotion box.
i wouldn't exactly call it a varible gear, since it's not multplying tourque. it more or less just slips gradualy allowing the wheels to catch up to the engine. on a good a/fuel run, low 5.30's or better, you would probably see it lock up, or go one to one, at just a tick under three seconds.Originally posted by TCalso boost will make the cam act smaller
