Re: Camaro Outsells Mustang in June
Certainly there's some "gotta have it now" trendiness driving up the "OZmaro" sales figures.
But perhaps the folks at "Team Mustang" really will see this as confirmation of what many of us have been telling them during all the wasted years of Mustang's exclusivity (2003-2009). Sending out a lightly-restyled, grossly underpowered "plow horse" (excluding the way-too-rare-&-expensive Shelby GT500) to contest a "quarter horse" race is a certain formula for defeat.
Of course, Car and Driver claims the 2010 Mustang GT is the best of the breed (notwithstanding its deficient power-to-weight ratio). But most buyers of the Camaro SS, and many Camaro LT shoppers care a lot more about acceleration and bang-for-the-buck than whether the snobbish "whine-n-cheese" segment of the automotive press is sufficiently impressed.
The opportunity to deliver a popularly-priced V8 performance car (at least in any meaningful volume) will slam shut after 2012 because of draconian hikes in Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. So Team Mustang better get busy if they want to take one final shot before the impending darkness. If and when Ford pumps up the power to dominating levels (e.g. 2011), Mustang should resume its sales leadership.

Re: Camaro Outsells Mustang in June
Whoa there, don't get too far ahead of yourself there. Despite having any number of faster models at the top of the affordable end of the range, the Camaro outsold the Mustang once in the last 15 years according to the link in the story. Yes I said that, and no I'm not counting SLP's and erzatz Yenkos and GT 500's and Saleen what evers.
I returned a rental today in San Jose and the rental lots were jammed with new Camaros, I counted thirty from the shuttle bus alone. That may well account for the June notch in the win column for the Camry, um Camaro. (darn spell checker on this site!)
It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out for the year but I'll bet the Mustang numbers come out ahead for the 2010 model run.Drag Week 2006 & 2012 - Winner Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated - R/U 2007 Broke DW '05 and Drag Weekend '15 Coincidence?

Re: Camaro Outsells Mustang in June
Well...whatever. I think we should be extremely happy to live in a time when all three of these vehicles are in production again. And give Ford credit for one thing, they've kept the faith with the Mustang for 45 years.Michael from Hampton Roads
