Don't bet on it. The Detroit 3 will goof around for years while the first 2 mode hybrid V8 supercar (if ever produced**) will be Japanese. Typical. Sad.

And with the too-soon-to-arrive 39 m.p.g. automobile CAFE standard, there's going to be scant room for RWD V8s of any sort after 2016.
