Is that Ben Franklin-esque character Mayfield's lawyer? Wow... only in the south...

I still disagree with those who say he can't win. It certainly won't be win-win for him, as even if he does win the court cases as mentioned his racing career, at least with NASCAR, is over. But he sure doesn't have the looks of a meth fiend.....

While NASCAR seems slyly proud of its' booze-runner heritage, insofar as it's a PR use, any other illegal drug sure crosses the line with them. Not that I disagree, the difference between an old bootlegger and a tweaker is that one tells good stories and the other can't put sentences together, and has no teeth.

NASCAR sure needs something to come along and make it interesting but this ain't it. Btw will France and the mom-in-law answer those accusations as the accuser fades into non-credibility? Can't say why they should, but they also are getting a little dirt on themselves here.

Re: Columnist: Mayfield Mess a Black Eye for NASCAR

I'm thinking he's a meth head. I know guys that do Coke, Speed, LSD, etc. and look "totally fine" - for every despondent, strung out druggie that obviously has aproblem, IMO there are at least 2 people who have problems who don't look like it.

Just like there are functional alcoholics who drink a 12 for breakfast and go to work performing just fine.

The other reason I think he's a druggie is all this other Jerry Springer crap coming up. his response to his stepmother's accusations, he should stick with the "she's lying and has had it out for me for a long time before this" versus the "that whore killed my father!"

plus drug tests nowadays are pretty much infallible.

As Seered said in another thread, sure the test can't be wrong, but it doesn't mean the person reporting it is honest.

People easily get emotional about family, if he's had a bad relation with his step-mom for decades I could easily see it coming out like he phrased it.

I've known functioning Alcho's, Pot Heads and Speed freaks (most were in College), but between the Meth issues in Ely (Which are big, in the paper every week) and from Fontana I've never known a casual meth user that still didn't have the looks of a meth head. Must be lucky genetics or something eh?

There is an easy fix, independent drug test by a neutral tester. Oh wait, where's the drama in that.

Will never go to trial. It'll be setteled out of court. And NASCAR will have to pay out some money.
