This is how drag racing got started after WWII before it got organized.

We were having organized racing on an airport near me back in the early 90's to show the town that there was great interest in a drag strip which they actually built. It made money but not enough return for the 10 investor's so it was shut down after a little over 20 years. I won the foot brake race opening night, good time's.
