To back up Tony, I must tell one of my fave stories about newbies being introduced to drag racing. This is over a decade ago, and Richard Dreyfuss was the Grand Marshall at Pomona. He's at the starting line when they fire the first fuelers on Sunday, and is assaulted by the sound and smell of nitro. About 4 races in, they take a break to clean up the top end and Richard steps up to then Head Starter Rick Stewart (may he RIP) and asks, "If this is your day job, what do you do for excitement?"
