Re: Breaking News: Holley Files for Bankruptcy...Again!

O.K.,I've got mixed feelings here.As a CAT stock holder(up almost 50% since I bought it),
I'm glad that CAT didn't buy outdated tech. Both of my pre '65 vehicles run Holley carbs.,
and I like them.Really, what kind of user market does Holley have to make it a profitable
company?Sad to say,but times have passed for Holley.

I feel bad for Holley - but the people really getting the hose, are the people who they owe money to. THAT has to be an economy and job killer.

Aw heck, that's even worse than watching Crane go under. I think Lunati already split/was purchased?
What happens to Hooker, and Weiand?

Does this mean we're not going to have a "special edition" Holley Camaro?

(This post makes more sense if you've read the thread on the "Hurst 'special edition' Camaro")

Holley carbs are a product sort of like the late I.B.M. PC -- the clone makers are taking over the business, the market is mature, and the real "cutting edge" action is in another technology. Now I.B.M. is out of the PC business, despite creating the market!

f Holley isn't successfully reorganized (or more likely its brands, patents, and other "good" assets sold out of bankruptcy to someone like Edelbrock or a foreign multinational), the clones and derivatives might be all that's left making "Holley-style" carbs.

all those years of know how, the 1980s dud of feedback not functioning (the last generation)...and noone stood up and said "hey lets fix the past."
I do more to a holley than holley does to a holley..and I am beyond guessing millions of owners are the same.
I run a foriegn carbed car to this day..zero errors, and would not trade it for anything. holley could do something, and they don't. It is just another factor in the fails of many things.

cold weather still needs attention, etc etc. it is ridiculous. I do not feel bad about nostalgia not keeping up.

On a positive note, if you have boxes full of old Holleys, hold onto them.

You should see what people are paying for authentic buggy whips these days. :D

That being said, I hope that can organize and keep poeple employed. We don't need any more companies (regardless of industry) shuttering their buildings.

The Holleys I've had in the past. ..a used 780Vac, a used 850DP and currently a new 1000HP, have all been such great carbs. So easy to rebuild, adjust and tune. Never a complaint. I read the books on them and I understand how they work. Most power, simplicity and always reliable for me.
Holleys are like pushrod V8s compared to OHC V8s. Why replace them with more complicated versions that aren't any better?
