Re: Asphalt Track Goes Back to Dirt

Dodge City, Kansas did the same thing.
Dodge City Raceway Park was built in 2000 as an asphalt track and was converted to a dirt track in 2004, the same year that the World of Outlaws made their debut at the beautiful facility. It is one of the only tracks on the World of Outlaws circuit, which traditionally visits around 50 speedways a season that has a fully paved pit area, which gives the crews a flat and solid surface to work on as they prepare their machines.

Lakeside Speedway here in town went from asphalt to dirt years ago and it's been all the better for it. This was of course after those in charge spent several years coming up with new (stupid) rules to "slow the cars down" and make for more "close racing" until they turned it all into high-dollar train racing and ruined the asphalt show completely.

I-70 Speedway on the other side of town has been asphalt then dirt then back to asphalt over the years. It is a very fast high banked long half mile. Outlaw sprint cars on dirt on that track was absolutely off the hook. The recently built a dirt track adjacent to the asphalt track so they now have both at the same facility.

        So, what does this mean?
If Nascar goes 'dirt' it will improve the sport? :D
