Re: Basic Tech: Rebuilding A Rochester B Carburetor

You hit the nail on the head. "No editor in his right mind......" You and Chad - well, that's another story.

I have a pile of Rochester 1 barrels lying around from the Buzz Bomb engines. Want 'em? I can bring them to Maxton WHEN you come this year (notice I've removed your freedom of choice) or I can ship 'em off. Seriously, I have at least 3 or 4. How many can you line up on a manifold? I sent all my cam cores off so I no longer have a 292 core but it's at Delta Cams just waiting for you - you're looking at $100 for a good regrind - they will help you select a grind.

I'd love one or two of those Rochesters!

I'm planning on an old school twin 1-bbl setup. Enough to look and sound neat.

All or nothin' Bri! Gotta clean out the shop. Besides, you may need parts from each to make 2 good ones. I know one is the emissions carb from the '78 engine but I'm not sure what the difference is. Want me to send 'em or will you pick them up in the Spring? To have them mailed PM me your address.

Yup, only here can you find excitement over a 1bbl :P ;D

I'm not sure on the availablity of the floats, but I would of replaced it anyways. Unless of course you know you aren't going to be using that carb long.

The picture gallery format works very well scrolling through the pic's.

So where did you get the third hand for the check ball picture?
          Escaped on a technicality.

Randel, that was the guy that "actually" rebuilt the carb, Cough(caveman)Cough.

Just twistin' your nips Bruab, job well done. A tasty Carb rebuild that runs better then when you started, is more fullfilling than sex with a partner ;D

That wheezzy 6 holer is good for now but, a truck called "Goliath" needs something thats compression fired under thew hood!

              Brain,

Why not stick 2 - 1bbl TBI's on it ... run MS. Come over to inliners.org there is a "lot" of interest in hotrodding the 292.... i

Dan's carbs will be MonJets, not B carbs like on the truck.

Today's adventure with the suburban is making me really like old non-electronic stuff. that you can fix on the side of the road.

Down the road when I finally pull the engine to rebuild it (most likely next winter) I'd LOVE to do the twin 1bbl TBIs on it. That would be super bitchin'.

I have a box of the large base 1bbl carbs I think there is 4 in the box {mine are small base as it is a 216} and I have a couple 292 cam's that are good for regrind you are more then welcome to them! maybe when you go to maxton stop in buffalo and pick them up or come down for the big gasser meet . 8)
