I remember seeing a interview recently with David Pearson where he went over his different preparations for different tracks. Short tracks he taped a pack of cigarettes to the dashboard, long tracks he taped two packs and a backup lighter.

I loved the little word parts about all the stuff that had back then in between video clips. That was fun right there.

Best part was seeing the torch used on pit lane, Oh, the old days.

Those clips are older than me, some of them.

It does remind me of my first nascar race I watched on tv, live.205mph was not abnormal, all the cars looked like wider lower street cars, because thats what they were. and on regular tv,( which became a hot topic, I was only 10 or 11(?) a driver died realtime, car ended dangling from a fence.
if to make this a trivia,what year and what race?
it was dramatic. Cars flew to heights we may never see again, thrashed like rag dolls. In fact, it was not long after, nascars changed forever. ( much less than a decade after)
if to make it trivial, it was early 1980s...?
