      The bread and butter of grassroots use of the Mustang is still drag racing, and I'm pretty sure, always will be. IRS is not on the want list there.

        I think it's just speculation and don't think it will get an IRS, at least not that soon. Solid axles are stronger, lighter, and cheaper and that's what the mustang is about. From what I've heard, the solid axle handles pretty well already, and is a better setup than a mediocre IRS setup.

          The only reason why Ford would contemplate this is to shut up the snobs who keep complaining about the live rear axle, despite the Mustang being able to outhandle a Camaro.
