Re: Treasure Trove: Grandpa's Old Ford Garage, Desoto, Kansas

I am almost ashamed to say this but here it goes.
I went to school, kindergarden through 12th grade, in DeSoto, KS.
I just asked my dad last week "hey, whats that place on main street in DeSoto with the Ford sign out front?" My dad didnt know. I bet I have asked 10 people that same question. No one has been able to give me an answer.
My in-laws live in DeSoto, we ate dinner 2 blocks away from this place last night!
I am kind of ashamed that I never stopped to at least peak in the window or something. The place looks like there is never anyone there. But then again, it looks exaclt y the same as it did when I was 5 years old (nearly 30 years ago) so obviously someone is keeping it up.

Its crazy that I have finally learned what the building with the old Ford sign out front is. All because of this website!

    I love this place !!!
    Keep up the good work

Someone needs to correct the webmaster (Keith Stokes) on this story.
The picture at the bottom of Page 1 is misidentified as a Model A Station Wagon.

DeSoto is about 30 minutes from here. I don't know if it is still there, but there used to be a military munitions dump there.

            Cool stuff for sure.

I dont know about a "dump" but the old military ammunition plant closed years ago. I dont know what is being done with that property now. Hell, maybe it is a dump!

The place is still there, it looks like a city. You cant really tell where it starts or stops. There are still signs everywhere that say "keep out u.s. military etc. etc." I never had the balls to go past those signs.
