The good thing is, it's official: the Fiat Nuova 500 is coming to America by the end of the year. And yes, the Abarth hot hatch will make the trip, too. ;D

I predict it will be back with something better than an obsolete, inefficient pushrod V10. After all, Fiat is the parent of Ferrari and Maserati. So they like automotive fun and games.

In the interim, there are still plenty of kit car Shelby Cobra available . . . .

That obsolete 10-holer was the heart and soul of that car. It's charm is that it is UNREFINED.... :o

I'm no Viper expert. I drove a coupe for an hour a couple years ago. They are beastly cars. Square jawed, bourbon on the rocks, I'll beat your ass if you don't pay attention, torque making, killers.

Yes, the Z06 is a far better car. The Ford GT is light years ahead. Neither of them captures the feel and attitude of the Viper.

It's raw like an open bed sore and the best part is, the car never even attempts to apologize for it.

If the Viper shows back up with a 3-4 liter turbocharged V8, I don't think it will sell. It doesn't fit the ethos of the Viper.

You're right about the engine Brian. It needs a 6 or 7 liter V10 with some Ferrari tuning and an exhaust that sounds like a man designed it. If they do that they'll be half way there.

I don't feel comfortable driving a Viper. It feels like you have to always be driving it. I don't know what it is, but I never have that comfortable, cruising feeling

Man - is that every right on the money. I've been fortunate enough to drive someone else's a couple times. It's a car that demands you give driving it your complete attention.

Much like a lot of the old cars we like so much - but even more so.

Well - at least we agree on something.

Meh - I don't see the advent of small cars from fiat being a bad thing. If they'd maintained a decent small car all along, they wouldn't be in the pickle they are in now.

inefficient v10 can run pretty fast with all the old school tricks. but yeah, what it REALLY needs is a 2.1 liter v8 !!!
