Re: City Actually Works to Keep Junkyard in Business Rather Than Close it Down

Hour and a half from my house, Utica has always been a Town that takes care of it's own. There is also a Snowmobile/ATV salvage yard there, Hudon's, that has grown over the years.

DeNaples Auto Salvage in Scranton PA has used all the old Un-used local railroad building in their area for a "in-door junkyard" for decades, same thing, cars stacked floor to ceiling on racks.

In five to ten years, when people wake-up and realize how bad Cash4Clunkers has hurt the used parts market, which is what so many lower income families use to maintain their cars, it will be creative, hard working "junkyards" (PC-Recyclers ;D) that help fix the problem that the elected D-bags dropped in our laps.

Here's to a pat on the back, for both Utica, and the brothers.

Hopefully the greenies will take notice and vocally provide their support. Not only does this operation sound environmentally smart, but as Bruab has stated in other posts, if parts can be reused you're helping the environment by avoiding the energy and materials to make the replacement parts that salvage yards sell

For once a government that uses some common sense! We need those type of folks in the house, congress and white house!

The folks that have been elected to run Utica need to be moved into the offices in Washington DC to help clean up the mess we have now. They are definitely looking out for the people that elected them. Now if only I could find the money to start something similar around here.

Very cool. I hope other cities will hear of this and help others to follow the brothers' lead. It's definitely a good thing.

Schram's in Pontiac, MI is similarly organized but they lack the space to keep the yard indoors. So is Fox in Belleville, MI, but again they have the car storage outside due to a lack of covered space. With way too many big buildings being left vacant (like the entire Willow Run assembly plant) there is now plenty of room for this - and it ought to be cheap.

So - Good on Utica, NY! Now , they need a HUGE waste oil heater! They HAVE the oil.
