You'll see one under the hood of every 2011 Mustang GT (although technically, FoMoCo has dropped the "mod" moniker for from the 2011 5.0).

Engine Masters mag also ran a 522 h.p. "all motor" DOHC mod a few months back.
HERE'S TO HOPE'N THE 2011 MUSTANG COMES WITH A FIBERGLASS HOOD,
it'll make fixing it after the new boss (5.0 mod motor) replaces the old boss(4.6 mod motor) and spits up spart plugs
oh wait.. fords press reports that the new mod motor 5.0 spark plugs are welded in the head.. replacement at 100k requires complete head assembly ..and right out of warranty.. ;D

FYI - The new 5.0 is not a mod motor.

That's just simply not true. http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...ech_specs.html

I know that the p.r. spin is that the Coyote is "all new" and not a Mod motor. But it's machined on the same tooling as the Mod (which was the defining parameter of the original Mod program). It has the same narrow bore centers as the Mod (which is one of my few criticisms of the 5.0 Coyote). It has a Mod-family basic layout. Reportedly the Manley "Terminator" rods will fit (but may need rebalancing). So it would seem the Coyote 5.0 is more of a "Mod" than GM's LeSs V8 is an SBC.

Re: NASCAR to Tear Down Lowest Finishing Non-Wrecked Competitors

It also shares a firing order with a flathead, so does that make it a flathead? ;D ;D

It appears to be more of a mod descendant than they say. But is anything significant (heads, intake, etc) really interchangeable with a mod? Doesn't sound like it.

So I guess it is, but it isn't. lol

not true, no kidding.. I'd hope the welded in spart plug would've been the biggest give away ;)

Re: NASCAR to Tear Down Lowest Finishing Non-Wrecked Competitors

If you read a bit deeper you see that the main concern is that S&P teams are using illegal engines to ensure they make enough HP to qualify. Since they don't finish, theres no post race inspection. This only becomes a problem for NASCAR when a "Legitimate" team with a legal car is knocked out of qualifying by a S&P team.

And that would make it a typical FORD. :

Prediction: The aftermarket will quickly figure out a way to use high-flowing "Coyote" heads on "Gen 1 Mod" blocks. The only material differences reported so far are apparently oiling and head bolt size.

Not true. See my second link (John Mihovetz's Accufab Cougar) The new Cobra Jet Mustangs are big blocks? There are no late model Mustangs in Stock or Super Stock?

go to lime rock - no mod motors
Have you looked at a Ford-powered Daytona Prototype? Or at the newer cars when the Shelby Club runs there?

                              - go to nascar , no mod motors
What class in NASCAR allows OHC/DOHC V8s?

Huh? Everybody that builds a mod has a Ford factory deal?
