I could not do it. The only reason to get the 6 is to prove a point. Put a turbo on it and make it faster than the 8. The MPGs are not that diffrent, the cost difference is 87 vs. 93. But it really does not matter. I can not afford either one. I only buy a car if the first payment is my last (that's why I drive a fox body ;D )

I'm baffled by the independent rears. BLEAH > They weigh a ton and add nothing of value to these cars.

in a corvette... yeah, independent makes sense. On these things which are not much more than pimped out generic platforms, live axles rule. Watch how bad the 2011 mustang is going to crush the Camaro. It's 1989 all over again except this time, chevy's going to be embarased with a 1.2 liter advantage instead of .7

          keep dreaming..
lets see the torque curve of this 411hp new(old) mod motor..
the f bodys got 427 now and can go up
and is tested now, g.m. is testing the more power in the nascar f body pace cars.. and those are alot more than 427hp ;D

If the 2011+ Camaro is slower than the Mustang it's going to be because of weight. The General can pop the ford standard supercharger on the LSx engine when ever they decide to and step it up, and step it up significantly. If hot rodders can boost the LS engines to 1,000Hp, the OE should be able to swing it too (same really goes for Ford too), it's just really a matter of which one quits first. And until I see Ford's new engine prove otherwise, the LS gets better mpgs, especially if they can get the Camaro's weight down.
            Escaped on a technicality.

Hmm...I'll personally say no. There's better suited cars if you are worried about fuel mileage in a daily driver. Unless you're buying the ponycar for your kid....
                  Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

We will have this debate again in earnest when CAFE pushes V8s into the air where only the elites can afford them.

You can never get around the visceral aspect of what a V8 brings to the table. Slap all the turbos and superchargers on all the V6's or I4s or I6s you want, but the same mods will always make more power in a 8, and sound and feels better doing it. I grew up in the 80's, and had a similar experience to what Brian wrote about in his intro. A "Fast" production car was a Grand National, and 14 seconds was the over/under on whether or not you were fast.

I tried to explain to a guy I knew once why the ricer/small engine culture was bogus. He did not get it. Go figure.
