      I watched a 1944 video (bombers etc), even the narrator for the gov't video had a complaint. :

      "too small but they piled in anyway"

      they made due with old stuff..like live axles and inlines and any excuse for lack of better engineering, it must be nostalgia or stupid that keeps it going.

        Flatfender jeeps and Jeeps (that word was not a brand during WWII) are the single greatest four-wheeled vehicles in the history of America. Only the Model T can make an argument to that.

        This year, Fiat-Chrysler is trying to claim "the 70th anniversary of the Wrangler" based on on the first Willys MA. So wrong. And I guess it means the Bantam never happened.

          I got to help a guy with part of his Jeep today. It's an old one with the script F on everything

          He's putting the front axle back together, never done any axle work before, so I get to do a lot of explaining. And I happened to have the pinion shims he needed....brand new...
