Re: Historic promo video: The Olds Jetfire Turbo V8

Dang! I want to run out and buy one. Given that I worked at a Buick dealer, we always said that Olds needed the turbo to make up for the crummy Olds heads on their version of the 215. A bit of clarification - the 215s from both Buick and Olds were not exactly "all aluminum" - both had centrifugally-cast iron cylinder liners. The heads (also aluminum) had hard seats - not sure if they were Stellite or some kind of steel. Great little engines and WAY light for their time.

Men in the front seat, women in the back. As it should be. Why were they racing around in the snow with the windows open?

          interesting.
Titanium existed then, but as exotic. A decade and less later was getting the good stuff cheap.
I could guess there was a magnesium detonation.
another day late and dollar short story.

even my old sube is made of something astronomical..not doing nearly the work as this v8 needed the same materials to do.

they could repeat that today..complete with downdraft and simplicity..but no. :
