We've had a series of Quick and Fast cars (7 second bracket class) do that exact same thing recently....no explanation, but there's three crashed cars in Denver....

When I looked at the first photo I was wondering where the second chute was at. In the second photo it's there and I'm thinking it's late opening turned the car. He was in the left lane and went right across the track. It also looks like the cord lines are twisted around each other too.
