I was just reading Speed Sport News...
The story said when the fans started booing her, she turned to her PR guy and asked "Why are they booing?"
Can she really be that clueless after all her time in the sport?
Or has she been surrounded by "yes men" stroking her ego all this time?

Put yourself in her shoes for just a moment. You're driving a car you feel is unsafe, and your crew (who is supposed to have your back) isn't doing their job. If it were me, there would be far more then words exchanged with my pit crew.... they try to kill me, I'd return the favor.

She's not a rookie, and the point was well made in this article that at 200 mph poor handling cars are a death sentence. Whether or not she should have said what she said really should be taking in the light of when she said it.... I know I've had to apologize more then once for comments made immediately after being shocked/surpised/or scared. If it were Earnhardt, Petty, or anyone else there would have been words followed by assaults.

Her crew really needs to man up and apologize to her.

You don't bitch out your crew over the PA to the whole darn Speedway - you do it in the trailer or the garage.

Seems pretty apparent the Andretti Team was WAY behind this year, i.e. look at Tony Kanaan. Maybe DP should have given the fans a little credit for figuring out what was wrong....most of us could see that all week.

I'm certainly not a Danica fan, but by the same token the double standard is just wrong and needs to be confronted.

Dale Jr. was screaming about how shitty his car was at his crewchief on the radio. The fact that lots of bumpkin fans have radio scanners (and obviously CBS sports does too) isn't his problem. I've been present when professional drag racers absolutely melt down at their crews or crew chiefs at the top end of the track or in the team's pit area after a poor run where the car was wrong, they didn't do it over the track PA system.

Like I said in the blog item, I don't doubt that the car was horrible, and that she was wrestling with the devil at 200mph. If she'd have said that the car wasn't right and the team has lots of work to do and then gone into the trailer and MF'd them all until she was blue in the face, there would be no backlash.

Indy must be happy about this because it is at least generating some buzz about the race.

She could have said: "We still have a lot of work to do on the car." Using "we" to convey her and her crew were actually a team.

Just remember, there is no "I" in team but there is in "bitch".

you sure do.. some time you are forced to, publicly wine, to get the car owner to fix the problem..
because , it isn't just you talking to the owner and it going in one ear and out the other..
NOW the ones footing the bills, you know all the names on the car.. are gonna be making calls..

she, complained to the crew before this and was told to shut up and drive ,by the crew cheif..
the car was junk.. how would you get the issue fixed, talking to the crew cheif, fell on def ears..
now the ones that paid big money for their logo to go along for the ride, will give the car owner hell..


nevermind the fact that, an ill handle'n indy car russia rulet, one twitch and your heading for the wall feet first,, and no really cage to stop your legs from grinding on the wall and track..

I'll bet that car is 100% better come race day, or , it'll get parked, after a few laps..and there is no way the car owner wants or can afford that..
