So Vince (local Caribou dude--- mucho connections! ;D) and I are sitting at mid track as track steward volunteers.... he's loungin' on the John Deere Gator 6-wheeler, and I'm standing on his truck bed tool box with my binoculars, trying to squint at the starting line...
the walkie-talkie is clipped to the antennae on the roof of his truck...

              and he says, "DUDE---MOOSE! MOOSE!"

I drop the binoculars, look DIRECTLY ACROSS the track, as a bike screams by at 180+ mph, and there's a young moose, standing 30 feet from the edge of the track, staring back at us.

I nearly fell off the damn truck roof lunging for the radio.

"HOLD COURSE!---- WE'VE GOT A MOOSE!.... I am NOT kidding!"

So we put a hold on racing, and try to see where it ran off to, back into the woods.

              Can't see him.

5 min later, after about a half dozen more racers, I'm back on the radio:

"Uh, HOLD COURSE, steward to timing tower, look DIRECTLY ACROSS from you, that moose is back, and he's headed right at the timing traps!"

And that's when we rolled the Fire Dept, with the BIG horns.

Poor moose was probably scared crapless.

I'm guessing that RHR has a thread on it, but you didn't say how the Firecracker did. Luke called me from the track and said that Seth (I think he said - I was on the way to Mom's 90th. Birthday Party) ran over 200, but what about the rest of the crew?

Cool to see the rest of the crews at work - John's Rambler, Paul's Ranchero, etc. Looks like all were having fun and going fast.
