Re: Car Show Gallery: The 47th Das Awkscht Fescht
Oh my goodness!!! :o I am absolutely, positively floored. Never before have my eyes been treated to such candy. Seriously, that was automobile sensory overload. So many cars I've never seen before, like some pickups and especially the woody wagons. And the old-timers in perfect original running condition. Even the old 3rd generation T-bird... LOL ;D (how much was it going for?) :D Would you say that most of the cars were local? I did see plenty of NJ plates. If so, this is where I need to find my next car(s).... BTW, what does Awkscht stand for - August?
Thanks so much for the treat, Joe.

This truck has a 6 cylinder engine and the standard Stand & Drive mechanism. The mechanical arrangement for driving this make of truck while standing is very unique. The clutch and brake are operated by the same pedal. The top half of the pedal travel operates the clutch and the bottom half applies the brake. The gear shift lever also has the gas throttle on the end of the lever that you can turn to apply the needed throttle to drive. There is a hand lever that you can pull back on that applies the rear brakes to slow down while turning corners in the city.

Re: Car Show Gallery: The 47th Das Awkscht Fescht
My dad speaks PA Dutch (his first language, actually-- he had to learn English when he started the first grade). Das Awkscht Fescht is PA Dutch for "That August Festival".
Macungie has quite the show schedule-- Das Awkscht Fescht is more the original stuff, while Wheels of Time is more a Street Rod/Hot Rod/Custom show. BS'ers would love the truck show they have earlier in the year.
The last weekend of August is Wheels of Time in Macungie-- you going to that, Joe? My wife and I will be there! The official Bangshift garage door guru. Just about anything can be built using garage door parts, trust me.
