I was flipping through this at Borders last week...very well done photography. Funny you mentioned the Corvette Summer car, as that was the one feature that just might make me add the book to my shelf. Oh and also the fact that the Greenwood Car gives me heart palpitations....

Of course the '78 Corvette Pace Car was included because of its significance. It was the first Corvette Indy Pace Car but more importantly it included beautifully freshened styling and resulted in a huge jump in sales (the reason Chevrolet makes 'em) and maintained the Corvette's performance image by starting yearly horsepower increases. All during a time of gas crunches and ever increasing government mandates. Without the sales success of the '78 to '82 years today's Corvette may not even exist.
