Re: Project Car Spotlight: Bringing a 1967 Olds 442 Back to Life
This story really knocked me over! I too had a 67 Olds 442, it was also maroon with black bucket seats, 400 c.i. 4 spd. It wasn't a convertible but it had a black vinyl top. I bought mine in 1970 and in just 3 years it had been rode hard and put away wet!
But damn, I loved that car! The story really sounds familiar where you talk about it blowing up!! I spun rod bearings 3 times in that motor. I grenaded one trans but I still looked at it lovingly when putting it to bed at night.
I bought a 62 chevy super sport convertible for a winter car, but then I lost my job when the steel plant closed!
I only paid $175 for the chevy so the Olds had to go, being that I couldn't afford to put ANOTHER crankshaft in it!! I sold the 442 for $500 and regretted it immediately!
I'd post a pic of it but without a "browse" button I'm useless!Racing is living, anything before or after is just waiting!!!
