Re: Engine Project Spotlight: Getting Started on a Rare 1960s Pontiac OHC Six

    Hey Cool!

To this point he's found the engine, dragged it home, and gotten it into his basement. That last part was done in a totally BangShift approved manner using old pallets, ratchet straps, and prayer. You'll dig watching the process of moving an engine without the use of an engine lift, chain fall, tractor, or crane of any type. It literally looks like certain doom is imminent, but the smarty pants guy pulled it off no sweat.
You left out the part where he did it by himself and he only weigh's 110lbs (150) sopping wet :D

    Escaped on a technicality.

Huh, must be a back east thing, sure don't see them around here. Maybe the heat gets to the cam housing?

could be that more survived back east, because most of the cars they came in rotted away...the survivors didn't get many miles on them (pampered or something).

Around here we just keep driving old cars forever, so an engine that lasts 50k miles isn't gonna be around very long.

They ARE all over back east. My issue with finding one was simply finding one in the west. They go for $200-$500 all over the midwest and east. They were going for $1000-$2000 out west, wth?

Randal...let me check with someone who's a Pontiac collector/junkie that lives here. Last time I was at his place he had ALOT of performance parts for that motor...dual carbs set ups...headers...cams....M/T valve covers. This guy has such rare Pontiac stuff Larry Maxwell comes to him for stuff!!!!!...and he doesnt think it's worth gold.

Cool, yeah let me know what's available. At minimum I'd like to get another cam housing/valve cover.

The last time I saw one was 1993 at my buddies junkyard(Glovers Auto Salvage-Mooresville NC), it was still in the original Firebird it cam in. He sold the car to a guy to restore.
