Re: Question of the Day: Have You Ever

Yes, a complete 79 F150 4x4... Although I did give the guy $50 for it, even though he offered it to me for free. I had no use for it at the time, but it had a fiberglass cap on it so I figured I could use it for parts storage if nothing else. I've since sold $100 worth of parts off of it, and used a few for my own trucks.

My grandfather offered me the complete flattie V8 out of his '36 Model A coupe a few years back. I have no use for it, and really don't intend to do anything with it other than clean it up and put it on a stand in the shop as a conversation piece. But one thing's for sure - it's NEVER going to the scrap yard.
    Still plays with trucks....

Re: Question of the Day: Have You Ever

A 66 Chevelle convertable in 1975 followed me home. No engine or trans, was a 283/3 on the tree car. Sold parts off it for about $450, gave the rest away. Net profit, $450. Also dragged home a 283 from a 1960 Biscayne, a 390 from a 66 Fairlane GTA, and many 12 bolt rears I wish I still had. Mom and Dad were not happy about all the junk in their suburban driveway, and put the kibash on the 1955 Chevy 4 door wagon, fresh from the Nevada desert, with a blown up 6 for 50 clams. The last treasure I got was in 2005 I gave $200 for a rust free, low mile 1970 AMC Ambassador I got minutes before the rollback from the junkyard arrived.

I did gather things, until I got in trouble, 15-17 yrs old. It was kinda funny.

I had a ford escort, needed another one..so I now I had two junk ones sitting around.dad used to go trucking, and well I kinda took over the 40 acres. ???
a zephyr, delta88, ford f100, a snojet witha kawasaki engine...a rupp frame, with no engine... I was really on a roll before I had to get rid of stuff. ;D

Today.. I'd do the same darn thing with a different result.I am a bit slowed to fulfill it, that is all.

The 2 barrel 351 Cleveland heads in my avatar pic. I've had them since the mid '80s and have never had a use for them, nobody else wants them and I can't just throw them away. They make good wheel chocks though.
I also have an EMPI remote oil filter kit for an air cooled V-dub that's still in the shrinkwraped package.
I've never owned an air cooled V-dub and probably never will, but I can't throw this away either. :
Just groovin' to my own tune.

Re: Question of the Day: Have You Ever

I grabbed a 1950's Bennett gas pump out of the woods that was left behind when a house was moved from the property in the 70's. I've known about it since the early 80's and finally got it a couple of years back. It's rusty and missing a few things but still wears it's red and white paint and Standard Regular Gas decals. It about killed me getting it to my truck, do you realize how heavy those are? I removed the pump and motor, tapped into the wiring, screwed in a light bulb and it works.

It now serves as a nightlight and conversation piece in my garage.

I drug home a 65 Corvette front clip and I do not even own a Vette, the guy was going to junk it a long time ago. I still have it....

Along with various transmissions ,engine parts, cast off chunk's of steel, aluminum and magnesium my best drag home was a 70 camaro funny car body. No I don't still have it , but it was fun while it lasted!

Re: Question of the Day: Have You Ever

When I was 19, I picked up a '66 Mustang convertible with so much frame rot that by the time I dragged it home the doors were totally jambed tight... couldn't open them. I knew there were problems with the car, but I had a piece of Mustang history !! Held onto it for about two years in a friend's field until someone just came along took it... :P
