Re: Camaro Will Outsell Mustang in 2010, 5-600hp Z28 on Tap for 2012
What's more important are the trends:
"[T]he Camaro's sales figures for November are actually down 41.9 percent, seasonally adjusted, and 39.4 percent in gross totals, compared to November 2009. The Mustang, on the other hand, is on the rise, up 12.8 percent gross year-on-year." www.motorauthority.com
This is not surprising, considering that the high-powered 2011 Mustang engine line-up was not available for the entire calendar year and that the 2011 Mustang has won virtually every objective comparsion test against the Heavy Chevy "Holden Camaro."
The Z28 and the Boss 302 are in different segments. The proper comparison will be between the Z28 and the Shelby GT500.
Sadly, this sort of like a repeat of 1970. Soon 35 m.p.g. CAFE standards are going to kill most of the V8 fun (or at least price it out of reach of most Bangshifters). CAFE is already limiting volume of V8 performance models.
