If we lived in a more caring and understanding society, we would long have understood that nobody really "lives" through an accident such as this one.
The long lasting emotional scars while not visible on the surface, will cast shadows for a lifetime. The sounds of the bike sliding, the expensive noises of ultimate defeat, the stench of improperly, wastefully burnt rubber, the pangs of conscience over mis-spent fuel, time, engineering and money, even emotions related to what might have been..... All of these will conspire to make life a little less satisfactory, a little less bright and wholesome.
And that's just for the rider who missed the fellow who crashed. ;D
