Re: Engine Tech: How a programmable ignition can make anyone look like a pro
I have been using the Programmable 7 for years, and I love it. It is very easy to learn and program. I have different programs for different tracks and conditions. There is no reason to ever spin on the line and you can also have dead nuts 60' and 330' splits. Now if MSD could figure out a way to program out my driver error! :Living the dream!

West tech..
when you renaming the board to the hotrod board..
cool tech but.. now all you need is Jeff Smith to write tech for you..
and that last part would be so much kooler than westtech and their bloated dyno

MSD should pay you guys to do Introductory Tech Documentation for them. This is by far the best Intro to their programmable ignition systems I've ever seen!
Ignore the d-bags on here, this is some good tech for the people who will actually use it some day!www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!

Invite Jeff Smith over any time...and him to bring Dave Vizard along...may as well give Dulcich a ride over also .
All 3 are about useful, critical basics and "real-life" scenarios...as opposed to unrealistic mondo freakazoid mods/builds put on the magazine credit card, and to be given to the editor later.

Re: Engine Tech: How a programmable ignition can make anyone look like a pro
Thanks for the tech article. I didn't think about how radical you could make the curve.
BTW, I got one of those planned for future use with boost, but its use in a daily driver street car is less than ideal, since there's no real way to have vacuum advance controlled by it (of course if you don't want VA then there's no problem).
I was thinking of trying it with a distributor that has the centrifugal advance locked but leave the vacuum advance operational. See how that works.

Trying it with Vacuum advance still connected is interesting. Hmmm. I'll talk to MSD and see how that would work and we'll test it.
If you guys have tech stories you would like to see, let us know. We'll do them. We are interested in the radical all the way to the hilarious. Anything goes with us.

Westech is spelled, well W E S T E C H. Their dynos aren't inflated, and on behalf of Westech and BangShift, I invite you to come down and watch how we test there anytime. Westech is one of the finest dyno facilities in the country. Steve is one of the top engine tuners in the country as well. He's seen it all, and has no ego. That is a hard thing to find in the tuning business. Ernie is one of the best EFI tuners I've seen, and is always a good time. Rick, the mad scientist, has been developing new speed and safety parts for years. In fact, a new part they have patented and are manufacturing just got NHRA preliminary approval and we'll be doing an unveiling soon. This part will cost less than $40 and could be the single best fire safety invention since the fire suit. So Taz, before you judge, you should know who and what you are talking about. Like I said, come on down. I'll give you the tour and you can watch them/us test.
As for changing the name to Hot Rod, why would we? We are not the only media to test there. Most media in or around So Cal dynos there. It is convenient, they are professional, and they are sponsored by the best companies in the business.
Steve, Rick, and Ernie let us have free reign and it is appreciated. They are the nicest guys in the business and we appreciate their support. Without them, BangShift would not be able to do Engine Tech at this time. The next story will run this week, and the testing was done at Westech. If that bothers you, don't read it.
Thanks again to Steve, Rick and Ernie. We appreciate the support and will continue to call Westech home.
