When writing about Cotton Owens’ passing yesterday, I of course thought of his cool “Cotton Picker” match bash wagon right off the bat. It got me to thinking about what single race car I would drive from the annals of history, given the chance. I was thinking about one of the GT40s that won LeMans, [...]

driving one v8 is driving em all..until realizing subtle differences in big stroke, little stroke, big bore and little bore in combo on either.

big weight, lightweight chassis....high speed heads or big honking slobs...high compression or low.

yeah. I got to wandering what engine I'd like to sit behind for a day...it wasn't even a v8.

the 60 degree v12 made to scream with carbs at 3.3 liters in a ferrari 250 GTO. I could only guess it was right on the butt of the gt 40.

hardly unamerican. physics pounded my body all the way to disabled.

left with alot of time to think.

Oh yeah, Box? One V8 is the same as all the others, eh?

Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?

Porsche 917. But it'd be a tough choice between the Le Mans version (917K) and the last turbocharged Can-Am one (917/30).

Stone Woods and Cook or Mazmanians Willys. The GT40 or Daytona coupe would be great too.

on a more seriuos note - Chapparal , the 917 sticks in my mind too.

The Green Monster series, ANY open wheeler Indy car from the 60's... but really? I always thought I should be allowed to drive the fabulous GRX!

I would be very very interested in the old Elf 6 wheeler:

For me, nothing would be as cool as rowing the gears in Mr. 4-Speed's GTX.

It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.
