I envy your location, It seems a goal that you could achieve. Me I'm stuck dreaming about taking a rental around it. It'd be hard to justify taking one of my cars over the pond to possiblly wreck it. Hell there are a ton of tracks around the US before i go there.

I'll give a few clues....it's green, has a worn-out 283, and has a Air Ride system...........with a chihuahua glued to the rear package shelf.

No that would be interesting, wouldn't it, maybe they could get Sabina Schmit (sp?) to drive it. She might get it in the sub 10's high 9's.

Re: Barnstormin': Why the Nurburgring Kinda Sucks

I dont know why i have the desire to drive around the Ring with the Chevelle.Must be the mystique,or the picture ive got after driving it in Grand Turismo.

And the fact that im over here, and not has to bring it from the US to do it.

But it is THE TRACK.Everyone with handling in their minds, talk about the ring sometimes, and regarding this thread. From the fifties to the nineties,Porsche and Bmw have used Nurburgring to test out their cars. When the big three havent cared for maximum handling in all those years, over here it sure has been important.

So its only natural that the ring are used to front the Corvette or Viper.

If you cant beat them, join them...fits in here. And in their backyard.

And one thing. Its so cool.I visit a lot of the sites over here, and most of the fans of the euro and jap supercars are full of crap when it comes to the fact that Viper en Corvette holds the fastest lap times around the ring for production cars. They will try all sorts of excuses for ignoring this, and say that they probably used slicks or that it was a professional driver...I guess those other lap times with other cars werent set by amatours then..

And that has done a lot.If the Corvette had been really fast at Road america,im sure no one over here had noticed it..pretty sure about that..

And when the Europeans notice it,so will Americans.Especially at this kind of thing. An American car thats hold the fastest lap time at the legendary Ring, will get its fame shouted.

And it should have been done 30 years ago.

racing, Monza, Zandvoort, ETC, European, Touring, Car, NÃrburgring, Spa, Francorchamps, Silverstone, Brno, Brünn, Budapest, racing, BMW, Ford, Escort, Zakspeed, Trivellato, Fiat, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Autodelta, Jarama, Salzburgring, Capri, RS 2600, 3.0 CSL, 2002, Schnitzer, Alpina, GS, Broadspeed

Browsing through the link over here, gives away that Camaro did very well over here in Europe in road racing from 71-77.Im sure GM didnt do so much hype about it.But if they had done more factory backed racing over here and winning, those fairy tales about excellent european cars, and not so good american suspensions would have been less.

Other possibilities if that had been done, could have been more sophisticated suspension packages offered to the buying public.Think adjustable shocks-wider wheels/tires .

Re: Barnstormin': Why the Nurburgring Kinda Sucks

I know where would we be if they had embraced Safety and handling. Not just straight line brute.
And your right it is THE TRACK, with everything enough straights to get even a slow car up to speed and all the curves you could ever ask for uphill down hill, Off camber, Not to forget the 2 carroselles. Sooner or later guys will realize the signifigance of it.

How could it possiblly hurt, who would've ever guessed the Corvette would be a viable competitor to Ferrari. Soley cause they decided to go up a tear rather than continue to race stangs.

Totally with you on the GT4, Seriously I bet I have put 2500-3000mls. on the track, with the gt specific wheel with 900* of rotation. Ah yeah. I need to go home now.

Do you happen to know what happened to the Paddock Cam link, mine no longer works.

These guys might appreciate the VW test track more familair, to oval tracks just HUGE

Re: Barnstormin': Why the Nurburgring Kinda Sucks

I have driven GT 1-2-3-4.I never finished 4,but the others i took all gold licences without cheating ;D.But it took
          some hours..hehe.

I have never used Paddock link. What is its purpose?

The Vw oval track. Its very expensive to hire. The guy with the Trans Am that hit 253 mph,had tried to hire it.28000$ for a day???...NO,FOR AN HOUR.... ;D

Thats crazy, Whats the ring. 10 euro's a lap, thats like a dollar per minute.Depending on what your driving you'd spend more on the fuel per min. If anything these guys should be embracing the fact that there is one huge, awesome track on the planet that'll let anyone drive it. Now thats love in the purist since.

The paddock thing is for the real track, I used to have a link that showed the cars just outside the pits waiting to get out on the track, I've seen some really cool stuff waiting.

Yeah cheatin, I will say i'm guilty of the money cheat. I don't feel guilty. You show me any legit racing team that wouldn't take more funding.
I did like the first 2 becuase of the HP limit per bracket, that made it fun. You'd race 250 class win, upgrade with your winnings then race 400hp, then unlimited. I deffinettly liked that. Elsewise you just dominate till the exteme races open.

Man good talk. I love that game and Track. Glad our taste are similar in that regard.

Now how do you feel about Bourbon? ;)

            Later man,
