There's a lot to that whole deal, but basically Todd Zampese dug himself a hole and there it sits. Sad thing is that SAR is a very nice facility and the crew is first rate. Someday maybe we can tell stories. :-X

US 131 LOCATED IN MARTIN MICHIGAN AND MILAN DRAGWAY LOCATED IN MILAN MICHIGAN ARE BOTH IHRA TRACKS. US131 IS STILL HOLDING A IHRA NATIONAL EVENT BUT MILAN IS NOT. IN FACT MILAN IS NOT HOLDING MUCH OF ANY NATIONAL EVENTS IN 2009? IS MILAN IN TROUBLE?

Re: IHRA Sues a Member Track for $764,000

Milan had a post on there site a few weeks back and settled there disput but the are not going to have a race this year due to budgeting concerns with IHRA and the detroit market. Below is the artcle stolen from www.milandragway.com

The rumor mill is in full force right now so let us tell you what?s going on. We (IHRA and Milan Dragway) chose to leave the Motor City National event off the schedule at this time. It was mutually agreed on business decision based on the current economic conditions of the Detroit market. The risk has to equal the reward with this type of event and it was clearly time to take a time out.

This has nothing to do with anything but making a smart business decision. We are and it is our intent to continue to be an IHRA sanctioned track. In fact we have a sanction agreement that runs through 2012.

As far as ?whose decision was it? we work very closely and have a good working relationship with IHRA and it was a business decision based on our input and theirs.

We will definitely miss the event that we have worked so hard for at the track. But now let?s focus on what an exciting season 2009 will be with the events that we will have when they are released at the Award?s Banquet January 10th, 2009!

GREAT NEWS FOR 2009. Both US131 and Milan are up and running for the 2009 Race Season in Michigan. US131 is indeed holding a National IHRA event and Milan sadly is not. I believe both tracks are looking for ways to cope with the bad economics of 2009.
