'Wheelin' in the forest is fun too, I have a brother up in the Sierras who had a Scout we once took out in the dead of winter to look at old gold-mining sites. I'm sure if I lived there I'd go out some.
This $2500 Cherokee has taken us some amazing places. I seem to have accumulated two more, one is apart now getting a Dana 44/Ford 8.8 and some lift. There is also a Wagoneer project. FSJs and Cherokees are dirt cheap around here as all the serious guys choose the regular Jeeps.
Sounds awesome. I got my wrangler for 1700 bucks last may.
My Dad bought this '87 for $500 last December for my Brother, I got it in June for free when my Brother went to Europe, put $250 in Fuel injectors(leaking externally) in it and a water pump(also leaking externally :P), It's got 120,000+ on the 4.0L and runs strong. Been hitting up ghost towns and the hills lately.
Glad to here other mining site and ghost town people out there. Randal, I want to hang out with you while I'm out there. I love knowing why and you seem like the best person to let me have it about the reason for mine sites and such.

If you are ever passing through Ely, with a few days notice I can give mine tours (giving one to a local 13 year old boy scout tomorrow for a Geology badge). Plenty of Ghost Towns around here, that's for sure. I really need to start an account at a photo site....
(Of course assuming we are still open ;), copper gained a bit the last couple days... )
