Re: Photo Gallery: 55 Air-Cooled V-Dubs
Boy does this ever bring back some fond memories. There was a time when my brother, mother and myself all had an air cooled bug in the driveway. I can remember fording creeks in the Jefferson National Forest in western Virginia in a '67 camper loaded with two bicycles, bunches of camping gear, tools and you name it. My wife and I took that thing half way across the country and back one summer. It was fun. What a great vehicle. Thanks for the pics.

Looking at these pictures, I have to make sure my 8 yr. old doesn't Pearl Harbor me with a "PUNCH BUG" to the back of the head. I really wish I never taught him the whole punch bug thing in the first place now. It is funny to see him get his Mother ever once in a while though!!!!!!!Jeremy George in Windsor NY

Are you kidding me??? I've been checkin that gallery regular like and didn't know it was up.
I could load that thing up with kool bugs, no problem.
I actually ponied up and ordered some custom RANDAR wheels Monday, and one of my bugs I was going to do a complete tutoral on the the lowering project on here for guyz to see the transformation. From narrowing a beam to tuck the wheels, adding adjusters, drop spindle and the two notch drop and arm clearance for the rear. I hope to do the whole thing in the month of January.
Would be happy to convert guyz to FLATFOUR power!!! ;D
These are the wheels except the spoke faces will be polished!

Great wheels, reminds me of Magnum 500s. Makes me want to change my car to 5-lug.

Re: Photo Gallery: 55 Air-Cooled V-Dubs
There was a red version of that hard topped buggy in Omaha. The guy lived at an apartment complex I once worked at. As far as I could tell it was his only car which drove even in winter. Not sure how well it had heat, but he'd put tall snow tires on it when it got snowy. I don't think I ever saw it without the side curtains on it.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver
