I knew of Clay and some of his accomplishments, but didn't realize about his untimely death ... damn.

I loved the Mr. Horsepower logo as a kid growing up. Can't say I knew much about Clay Smith, especially about his early death. Truly a master at his trade.

On a side note, you get see one of the Lincoln's he prepped for the Carrera Panamericana in the all Ford episode of Victory by Design.

I either didn't know or had forgotten the circumstances of Mr. Smith's early passing. Thanks for the info, and the reminder of what a bright light he was. We stand on the shoulders of giants.

Like the others I knew of Clay Smith, but not many details. Thanks for the information. As a kid I had two logos on the helmet I wore when we raced go-Karts -- Mooneyes and the Mr. Horsepower woodpecker.
