Re: CraigsList Pick of the Week: V8 Pinto
Looks pretty solid from the photos, but we all know how pics can lie(or obscure).
I really couldn't say if it is worth the asking price or not without physically inspecting it.
The engine compartment LOOKS clean...but how many leaks could have been power-washed away?
The headers look solid, but how rusted are they under a fresh coat of Satin Black?
Interior looks clean enough, but is that a flattened-out can of Folger's covering the gi-normous rust hole in the floor?
Does that C4 have clean fluid, or is it battleship gray?
Are the tires dry-rotted or have belts separated?
Questions galore.... ;D -

Re: CraigsList Pick of the Week: V8 Pinto
Didn't Magnante have a Pinto while he was out there?
Yeah, Pintos make me think of the Glidden machines, too. I love it! I have a pic somewhere in my files of him lined up with a Grumpy Vega, and it looks just perfect.
Hmm... Someone needs to start a Nostalgia Pro Stock event.
Rock hard M&Hs and all.

Ah ... V8 Pintos. Still love the 76 wagon that my older brother had for a while through the late 70s to mid 80s. Clean low-mile V6 car from our grandfather, which was treated to a Marvin Miller nitrous kit. Once the 2.8 expired, it was time for a V8. Initially a mild 302, then a nice solid cam 11:1 289 that loved 7,500 rpm. With nitrous of course. ;D
cheers

I hear that! Got a nice 408 Windsor sitting in my garage that would do that car justice...Originally posted by min301Maybe with stroked windsor in it. ;D
I really like your avatar! I have one of those small SOHC model engines at home. Imagine shoehorning that into a Pinto 8)Comment
