Anyone here familiar with Animal Jim Fuerer? His Big Animal race car was a 57 Merc. Who would look at a 57 Merc and think "Ya know, this would make a great drag car". That car just owned Oswego Dragway in Illinois in the 70's. Pics of it on Animal Jim's web site. It's way cool, and in fact still exists, just as it was in 1979 when last raced.

Awesome 8).Dig that merc on the strip.Found out that Bill Stroppe built this 57 for the Daytona Speed trials.Its probably lost forever,but this guy built ? clone.

My dad bought one (Station Wagon) for are family, if I remember right my old man was always putting a headgasket on it . He sold it in the late 60's for $200 bucks, that thing was big and heavy.
