Re: Motorized Freak of the Week: The 1932 Helicron
Interesting. Seems like it might have gained more acceptance with the prop on the other end. It wouldn't throw crap at the occupants - and might have been the end of tailgating!
And of these weirdos (and the US had plenty of 'em, too, like the OctoAuto - Google it) were from a time when lots of the "conventions" that we take for granted just weren't set in stone yet. Hydraulic brakes, all metal bodies, and a host of other standards just weren't standard yet. So they were looking for what would work. This wasn't it.

My guess is that tiny windshield is the down fall of the car. Not only would it not keep bugs out of your face, but that prop would accelerate the insects to the speeds of a bullet. In other words, don't smile while driving this car.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Alright Keith, what class would this run in? :D In our modern times we forget that nothing automotive was very reliable at one time in our history, so this thing fits right in.Comment

Roadkill would take on an entirely new meaning......that possum that would normally provide a slight thump-thump under your tires could quite possibly end up, pissed-off, in your lap....or all over the missus and the kids.
Positives?
The prop noise would render any back-seat driver's rantings worthles.....you wouldn't be able to hear them!Comment

Look out for pedestrians or you'll be dodging jiblets! :D
Rear steer for more stability? Gee, no wonder they ended up making Citroens.Comment

Makes me think of a Canadian saying:
We could have had British culture, French cuisine, and American know-how ... instead we ended up with British cuisine, American culture, and French know-how!! ;D
