DF you are absolutely correct on this one, both with the headlights and the wire wheels. I can't even imagine wire wheels on a '59 or '60 El Camino.

I liked Mothers custom ambulance in Mother, Jugs and Speed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyf5JEzWJ9U
He had 4 per side. And who can forget the Wagon Queen Family Truckster?

And then you have the 78-79 Ford truck which had either rounds or squares but look funny with round lights.

"It?s a simple rule, folks. Can it be that hard to follow? Never put rectangular headlights in a car that came stock with roundies. Just don?t. No exceptions."

Ford did and it works both ways..

What about custom vans? I remember a guy up the street in the 70's that had a Chevy Van with stacked squares from a 77 Monte Carlo that looked pretty cool.

    No Flames Man ;)
I'll one up you. Is it okay if they already had them.
Like the last make of the Monte carlo. I liked the smoothed squares on the fornt as opposed to the inset standard ones.
I never understood why they weren't on the ss. I'm not a monte guy maybe they didn't offer the ss for that year.

Perfect example of the factory messing up. Squares on the wrangelrs of the early 90's, uck...Who said that looked good.

Um, okay. I can see the butchery on that Elco in the blog photo, but this '70 is not that bad. I would never do it myself, and I also agree with the general rule to not put squares on round cars, but if no one were the wiser, it's conceivable that those squares on that '70 could be taken for factory.

    Flame away. ;D

Funny you mentioned the Wires. In the Cheaptest old car topic, I just talked about my 84 buick with rectangular head light and wires very similar to those. I assume that whole car was a butcher anyway. Did you take the pic?

That's all? Personally, I would have added "Do not attach your homemade headlight bezels with rusty drywall screws" for good measure.
