Seem to recall that my mother had a jacket sort of like this for use when one of us would get out of hand.

Except it zipped up the back and the sleeves were really long and could be crossed in front and tied behind...

Prevents child from being "thrown off balance" during sudden stops...poor little bastards...you mean, '57 Mercury brakes could do that?

I've never heard of such a thing. I too wonder if it actually went into production. Looks like an early attempt to do something good in the area of protecting kids. I wonder how well it would have worked in reality.
