Re: Motorized Freak of the Week: Sammy Miller's Rocket Funny Car

When I worked at New England Dragway we had Sammy in the rocket car. I told him I didn't want him to hurt himself, but I put a huge emphasis on the fact that I didn't want him to hurt himself at NED. He understood.

The late Lew Arrington had the absolute right idea when he built the Captain America rocket funny car. All he wanted to do was run 6.20's at 250 mph next to the piston cars, get his three runs, and move on to the next deal. We used him many times in 1978 and the crowds always loved it.

It was a very nice car built by Rollie Linblad and rocket engine science by Ky Michelson.
