    I don't know how he did it, but it's not too difficult, just find something round, the right diameter. Bolts, sockets, pipes, whatever.

      Yep, Jim's got it. A socket that seemed like the right diameter was clamped in a vice, open side up, then the welding rod was clamped to the edge with a needlenose Vice-Grips. The rod was then pulled around by hand, much the same as how the mandrel bender will do it with real tubing. Doing it that way was good practice.

      BTW the welding on the model was done with a spot-welder but other methods will work with patience. You could even use hot-melt glue.

      Talent and resources have a way of catching-up to where your brain "wants to go". ;)
